Big day today... well, actually yesterday but due to the fact no one at day care chose to inform of us of it we were unaware that ETHAN WENT POTTY IN THE TOILET! Woo hoo! From what they told Kari today when she picked him he went potty once yesterday and twice today. I guess he's still going some in his diaper, but he's also putting 2 and 2 together on that he's actually supposed to go in the potty now. At daycare they get a Skittle for every time they go in the potty so I guess Ethan was pretty excited about that AND he got himself a gold toilet sticker to wear around the rest of the day today. Anyway, I'm very very proud of him and I hope he continues to get better.
Last week we got his Elmo Potty back out and every day he's been sitting on it saying he's going potty but nothing is really happening. THOUGH, he has added butt wiping to his repertoire of skills. No whenever he 'goes potty' he asks for TP to wipe. Its kind of disturbing to me but since I'm all about doing whatever I can to not have to change anymore poop filled diapers wipe away little man... wipe away.
Today we also took Ethan to the allergist. When we first got back from Australia he was reacting pretty bad to something and each night his eyes would get red and puffy and he'd have trouble relaxing to fall asleep cause they itched so much. Gradually it has gotten better but we had to make the appointment a long time ago so we decided to keep it. Anyway, we didn't end up doing a poke test or anything like that because the doctor said it really wouldn't be an effective measure of what he's actually allergic to because his body is changing so much right now. Instead he just asked us to try and be aware of triggers and he gave us some nasal spray to try to relieve the runny nose/watery eyes he still sometimes has from day to day. He did inform us that the peanut butter allergy is NOT hereditary so that was kind of exciting. We figured with Kari's allergy to nuts and my allergy to one of them he was pretty much hosed. Tonight at dinner I was eating peanut butter and crackers and Ethan decided he wanted peanut butter. Prior to today we though you were supposed to wait until 4 before letting them try but the doctor told us they're moving away from that line of thought because peanut allergies haven't improved recently and may actually be getting worse. So, they're saying introduce smaller amounts at younger ages. SO, tonight Ethan tried peanut butter for the first time and really liked it. AND, he didn't seem to have a reaction at all! So, yippee! Cross one thing of the list of genetic defects we passed along to him. The jury is still out on the amount of money his orthodontics is going to cost us though...
